Suspected Terrorist Danial Ashraf Uncovered in Multi-State Espionage Network, Sensitive Security Installations Under Surveillance
Early interrogation of suspected terrorist Danial Ashraf reveals a multi-state espionage network involving surveillance of sensitive installations, police stations, and BSF offices. Videos and intelligence were allegedly sent to a Pakistani handler. ATS has arrested him and his associate Krishna Mishra, with illegal weapons and devices recovered during the operation.
According to investigators, Danial Ashraf conducted reconnaissance of multiple high-security locations in different parts of the country and shared critical data with his Pakistan-based handler. During questioning, it emerged that he carried out surveillance of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh office in Navi Mumbai. He also engaged in espionage targeting a police station in Mumbai and recorded videos of police personnel stationed there, which were subsequently transmitted to his handler.
Further disclosures revealed that Ashraf also conducted reconnaissance of a Border Security Force office in Punjab. He admitted to writing objectionable words on the walls of a cantonment area in a district of Punjab. In addition, he sent videos of police stations and police personnel from several districts in western Uttar Pradesh to his handler.
In a separate incident in Gajraula, Ashraf allegedly opened fire at a police officer using a pistol. The shot missed, and the officer narrowly escaped harm.
Security agencies are conducting an extensive and in-depth investigation into the case. Based on the revelations from interrogation, authorities are working to uncover the full extent of the network and identify additional associates linked to the operation. Officials have confirmed that questioning of Danial Ashraf is ongoing and the investigation has been intensified due to the sensitivity of the matter.
Earlier, the Anti-Terrorism Squad arrested Danial Ashraf from Barabanki, while his associate Krishna Mishra was apprehended from Kushinagar. The ATS has alleged that both individuals were engaged in espionage activities on behalf of Pakistan. During their arrest, illegal firearms, ammunition, and electronic devices were recovered. It has also been alleged that Danial Ashraf sent a video of the RSS office in Mumbai to his Pakistani handler, Shahzad Bhatti.
The case highlights a serious and coordinated security breach spanning multiple states, prompting heightened vigilance among security agencies as they continue to dismantle the suspected espionage network.
